Kilimanjaro 5 Days Marangu Route Itinerary

Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Your journey begins with a drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate (1,800m) for registration. Hike through lush rainforest for about 4-5 hours, arriving at Mandara Hut (2,700m). Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hut.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

After breakfast, continue your trek to Horombo Hut (3,720m), which takes approximately 5-6 hours. As you ascend, enjoy breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak. Arrive at Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

On this day, hike for about 5-6 hours to reach Kibo Hut (4,700m). The landscape changes as you enter the alpine desert zone. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon, have dinner, and rest for your summit attempt.

Day 4: Summit Day: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Horombo Hut

Wake up around midnight for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). The trek takes approximately 6-8 hours. Reach the summit and enjoy breathtaking views at sunrise. After spending some time at the top, descend back to Kibo Hut for a brief rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

After breakfast, descend from Horombo Hut back to Marangu Gate. The trek takes about 5-6 hours. Celebrate your successful climb and receive your summit certificate. Afterward, return to Moshi for a celebration dinner with your team.
